I hope a successful and profitable conclusion to the Eurasian Packaging Istanbul Fair for the entire industry and thank the Packaging Manufacturers Association and other valuable associations for their collaboration and support".
Zeki Sarıbekir, President of the Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD) Zeki Sarıbekir, says "The packaging industry, which reached 7 billion 467 million USD in export sales with a volume of 3 million 257 thousand tons of product in 2022, continues to be one of the key drivers of growth in the national economy. Based on these figures, Turkey is the 16th biggest packaging manufacturer in the globe, while it is included in the top 6 among the European countries. Our objective is to climb higher in these rankings. Therefore, the Eurasia Packaging Istanbul Fair, organized in collaboration with RX Tüyap, is of great importance for us. This fair plays a crucial role in enabling companies in the industry to penetrate into new export markets, and this year marks the 28th edition of the fair held between 11-14 October. Turkey has one of the leading packaging industries among other countries. European countries account for 60 percent of our export sales. However, despite this high percentage, we are currently fulfilling only 10 percent of the European demand. Our exports to the Europe is worth approx. 4.5-5 billion USD. We can easily increase this rate to 20 percent. This means that we can achieve 10 billion USD in export sales to European countries alone. In addition to Europe, we must also target the USA market. We need to increase our share in the USA market. Thanks to its new investments and technological capabilities, the Turkish packaging industry is well-positioned to achieve these objectives. We have unique competitive advantages in terms of logistics thanks to Turkey's strategic location and an attractive price-quality balance. These advantages have stood out in a more notable fashion during recent years. We will continue our efforts to sustain these advantages. We aim to sell packaging products to an even higher number of countries and to export more than half our production by increasing the number of markets. And this fair will allow us to display the capabilities of our industry to the world."
